Tristán Marof (born Gustavo Adolfo Navarro in Sucre, Bolivia, 1898; died Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, 1979) was a Bolivian diplomat, writer, essayist, and journalist. He was Consul of Bolivia in Europe, where he was linked to the labor movement and Marxist-Leninist organizations. The Socialist Workers' Party of Bolivia was established on 1 January 1940,〔Alipio Valencia Vega. Historia política de Bolivia, Vol. 6. Librería Editorial Juventud, 1984. Born in Sucre within a modest family. From a young age he became interested in politics and social issues. At 17 he published the short-lived magazine Renaissance Upper Peru. He later wrote for the newspaper Freeman and was positioned as an opponent of the Liberal Party (Bolivia) that dominated Bolivian political spectrum of the early twentieth century.
